Nearly 20% of the U.S. population struggles with anxiety, and I’m the first to admit I’m part of that group. Thanks to plenty of research, I understand that I’ll probably never be rid of it completely, but I do just about anything I can to keep my heart-pounding anxiety under control: I meditate, exercise regularly, get enough sleep, write in a journal…the list goes on. But there’s one “remedy” I’ve been curious to try for a while—cannabidiol, or CBD.

Bodies react to CBD differently and your results may vary, but here’s a review of my experience.

About Green Roads
Founded by licensed compounding pharmacist Laura Fuentes, Green Roads launched in 2013—before CBD was considered “mainstream.” The company got off to a shaky start as it attempted to navigate Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations, but now, Green Roads CBD is sold in over 10,000 retail locations.
Green Roads offers a wide range of CBD products, including CBD oils, gummies, topicals, capsules and softgels, nootropics/mushrooms, chocolate, coffee and even a CBD product line for pets. Green Roads uses U.S.-grown hemp exclusively, and the company handpicks the farms it uses, requiring each one to have certificates of origin and analysis. These certificates show that the hemp has been tested for heavy metals, pesticides and other contaminants.
A 30-milliliter bottle of Green Roads Mint Breeze Broad Spectrum CBD Oil containing 1,500-milligrams of CBD costs $150, which is rather pricey. A 1-milliliter serving, or one dropper full, contains 50 milligrams of CBD and costs about $5. With that said, I believe you get what you pay for, as this potent CBD oil offers great quality (with every product batch third-party lab tested for purity and potency), and it tastes great, too. For me, it was worth the cost.
At 50 milligrams of CBD per 1-milliliter dose, this CBD oil is more potent than the majority of others on the market. I liked that the dose was one full dropper as opposed to a specific number of drops, which would be a bit more frustrating and difficult to measure.
I found this potency worked well for me, with one caveat: In the mornings, it made me a bit sleepy (which makes sense, as CBD helps a lot of people sleep), but that didn’t bother me at nighttime (for obvious reasons). After noticing this pattern, I cut my morning dose down a bit (to .75 milliliters); in doing so, I just noticed a feeling of calm alertness.
A Better CBD Experience
Green Roads CBD Oils are some of the most popular, most awarded and most trusted in the industry. Each is a pharmacist-formulated, premium blend of hemp-derived cannabinoid extracts.
“[CBD quality] is probably one of the most challenging things to navigate,” says Ryan Vandrey, Ph.D., a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. “There are hundreds of products out there, and most claim to be the best and of the highest quality, but studies have repeatedly shown that there’s a huge range in CBD and THC content in these products and that many contain harmful contaminants.”
The best assurance of quality is to purchase an FDA-approved pharmaceutical product and one that’s regulated by a state-regulated cannabis access program. “Both the FDA and state-regulated cannabis programs have rules in place to ensure products are manufactured with appropriate quality control measures in place and that products are tested by an independent lab before they are sold,” says Vandrey.
Green Roads produces its products in an FDA-certified facility. An independent lab tests its raw ingredients and finished products, checking for contaminants, so Green Roads meets Vandrey’s requirements for quality.
Green Roads CBD oil also comes in a variety of flavor options, including Mint Breeze, Apple Kiwi Bliss and original (no flavor). It’s also vegan and gluten-free.
The Green Roads Experience
I had an excellent experience with Green Roads CBD. The first thing I noticed was the flavor—years ago I tried an olive oil-based CBD oil, and it tasted terrible and burned my throat. The Green Roads Mint Breeze flavor, on the other hand, is delicious. It tastes like mint-infused honey, which made me look forward to taking it twice a day.
I started out by consuming 1 milliliter twice a day, but I ended up adjusting the dose so that I was taking less in the morning (.75 milliliters) and more at night (1 milliliter). I noticed it gave me a calm, slightly tired feeling almost immediately, and over time, I felt calmer and less anxious overall.
Green Roads felt like a great addition to my wellness routine, especially once I adjusted the dose for my needs. I will definitely be ordering another bottle.
Green Roads Mint Breeze Broad Spectrum CBD Oil is a great option for someone looking to incorporate CBD into their wellness routine. As far as quality goes, this oil passes rigorous testing standards (it also has hundreds of positive reviews), and it tastes great. With that said, you might need to experiment a bit to find the right dose for you, and it’s always a good idea to consult your physician first.

What is CBD?
CBD stands for cannabidiol, a compound found naturally in hemp plants. More interesting than that is how CBD may support a sense of peace and wellness in human beings.
Why Green Roads?
We know. Every CBD company tells you their product is the best. With quality control measures like lab testing and QR codes now becoming standard, it can start to seem like all CBD brands are the same. They are not.
Knowing what makes certain brands (like Green Roads) better will help you spend your money more wisely and have more confidence as you incorporate CBD oils, topicals, capsules, or gummies into your own wellness routine.
The Green Roads difference comes down to a few really important points we’ve outlined below. They are just part of the reason we’ve won industry awards year after year, earned thousands of 5-star reviews and have heard countless stories from customers about the impact our products have had on their lives.
Picking the best CBD brand
- The measure of any CBD company is its CBD oil. We stand by ours as the best in the industry.
- We are led by a compounding pharmacist with 25 years experience helping her community get healthy. For her and the entire company, this is more than a job, it’s a mission.
- Not all hemp sourcing is equal. We select our hemp from high quality American farms.
- Not all lab testing is equal. We use an accredited independent lab to conduct full-panel tests on every batch.
- We’re an original manufacturer, not just a “white label” brand.

Green Roads CBD Oils: A Better Experience
“When you have an original product creator like Green Roads, the difference in quality is on a molecular level.”
Laura Fuentes, Co-Founder
Green Roads’ CBD oils are where most people first see the difference in our quality. You can taste and feel the impact that having leadership with real pharmaceutical experience makes on our products.
Our CEO and co-founder, Laura Fuentes, a licensed compounding pharmacist for 25 years, refined her formulation over years to create a better absorption experience. Rather than simply infuse MCT oil or olive oil with CBD- as most CBD companies do – she created a unique blend that delivers a sweet taste and a warm, pleasant mouth-feel to make the entire experience better for our customers.
“When you have an original product creator like Green Roads, the difference in quality is on a molecular level.”
Laura Fuentes, Co-Founder
That’s why it’s so important to go with an actual CBD manufacturer like Green Roads instead of a white label brand. White labeling is when a brand buys finished products from an industrial manufacturer and simply puts their own labels on them. The vast majority of “CBD Companies” are actually white label brands. When you’ve got a shelf full of white labeled products, the difference between them is only label-deep. When you have an original product creator like Green Roads, the difference in quality is on a molecular level.
We are led by a compounding pharmacist with 25 years’ experience helping her community get healthy
Laura had more than two decades of experience as a licensed compounding pharmacist on her resume when she first started creating our CBD oils, topicals and other products. Since then we’ve had two other pharmacists join our team, directly working with her on formulating and manufacturing our products. You may see other brands now trying to play catch up and claim that they have pharmacy or medical professionals on staff or as advisors. Ours literally runs the company, and that makes a huge difference. Laura’s personal standards are what drive our formulations, innovation, sourcing, manufacturing and lab testing day in and day out.
However, the difference in quality starts long before the CBD oil itself is formulated. It goes right back to the land where the hemp plants the CBD comes from is grown.
Not all Hemp Sourcing is Equal – Green Roads CBD comes from American Hemp
We believe American farms produce the best hemp and Green Roads hand-picks farms in the U.S. to provide the raw materials for our products. We insist that the hemp extract from these farms have certificates of origin and analysis. These certificates show that the materials have been tested for pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants from the soil. Our raw materials are extracted using cutting-edge techniques, and to be extra sure of their quality and safety, we have those raw ingredients tested by an independent laboratory before we use them in our products.
Frankly, the CBD industry is filled with other brands that don’t have transparent sourcing. In fact, many white-label brands may not even know where the hemp in their products comes from. There’s no telling where or under what conditions these plants were grown. They may be of legal or illegal origin, or not tested for pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants. Hemp plants have an absorption quality. Whatever elements and toxins are in the soil get taken up into them. That’s why we’ve got such high standards about how and where our hemp is grown. Again, Green Roads believes consumers deserve better. Accountability from seed to sale makes an enormous difference.
